AIC stands for Associated Independent Colleges of which Marist College Ashgrove is a member.
The purpose of the competitions arranged by the AIC is to promote and provide a range of sporting and associated activities. The competition encourages the participation of students from member schools in the spirit of our Christian ideals. Swimming is one of twelve AIC inter-school sports and activities. The member schools include:
- Iona College
- Marist College Ashgrove
- Padua College
- St Edmund’s College
- St Laurence’s College
- St Patrick’s College
- St Peters Lutheran College
- Villanova College
During the AIC season (Term 4 and Term 1) any Marist student wishing to swim, regardless of ability or purpose for swimming, needs to attend designated sessions, swimming with members of their cohort.
- Years 5 – 6 Swimmers – Monday PM, Wednesday PM
- Years 7-12 Swimmers – Monday AM, Tuesday PM, Wednesday AM, Thursday PM, Friday AM.
Marist College Ashgrove students wishing to participate in the AIC swimming program complete a designated number of training sessions throughout Term 4 and Term 1 of each year in order to be eligible for selection. The Marist College Ashgrove swim team is selected on swimmer’s performances achieved at various qualification events conducted throughout the season.

MCA Swim Club prides itself on delivering technically correct swimming for all participants. We believe that swimming is a skill based activity therefore we teach current techniques across all levels in our program.
